No gloves, no underwear
Looking Forward, Looking Back, by Rob Colgan, will be part of a holiday show and sale by six gay and lesbian Columbus artists. The six, all from the Short North area, will be presenting their artworks on November 17 from 12 noon until 9:00 pm.
In addition to Colgan's photographs, "Fall Into the Holidays" will feature the art of painters Doug Fordyce and Tod Porembka, jewelry maker Jane Farlow, mixedmedia artist Maureen Fahy, and graphic designer Alan Jazak. The show will be at 440 Nationwide Blvd. West in the new Arena District downtown.
The artists believe that this is not only a good way of getting their art out into the community, but it also provides patrons an opportunity to come up with unique holiday gifts for their loved ones, away from mundane purchases of gloves or underwear. Call 614-297-4446 for directions and more information.
Colgan's newest work may also be seen through the month of November at A Muse Gallery in Columbus.
Two fey films make good holiday fare
Anthony Glassman
Cleveland-A very queer holiday season begins at the Cleveland Cinematheque with two more LGBT-themed films in the coming weeks.
On November 15 and 18 at 8:55 pm and 4:15 pm respectively, Strange Fits of Passion gets its Cleveland premiere.
Strange Fits of Passion is about the quest of a bisexual young woman to lose her virginity, going from one person to the next in her vain attempts to be deflowered. In between encounters with other people, she returns to the one person she can truly relate to, her gay friend Jimmy, whose faith in love is being shaken by the revelation that his boyfriend has been unfaithful.

Supporting Actor. With praise like that, who can say no to it?
Then, breaking into the first week of December, the Cinematheque presents the tale of a young gay man's first summer as an adult.
Come Undone, a film by Frenchman Sebastien Lifshitz, examines the first summer of adulthood for Mathieu, who escapes his family's oceanfront vacation with Cedric, a young proletarian.
Can this love dispel Mathieu's bourgeois doubts and emotional turmoil, or will he fall into despair and suicide?
Come Undone will be shown on Thursday and Friday, December 6 and 7. The first day's showing will be at 7 pm, the second's at 7:30.
The Cinematheque is located in the Cleveland Institute of Art, 11141 East Blvd., in Cleveland's University Circle. They can be reached at 216-421-7450, or online at http: //www.cia.edu/cinematheque. ✔
